Morton's Orchards           Steven Sherer

Steven promotes stewardship of the land and stresses the importance of renewing and replenishing the soil in order to maintain the healthiest environment for his trees.  Weeds are controlled by hand picking and IPM (Integrated Pest Management) methods are used to naturally regulate pests.  He is almost finished with the lengthy 3-year process of Organic Certification and should have his business certified by next year.

Steven will be bringing fresh picked, tree ripened peaches to us from his (Aloha Organic Fruit), and Dave Morton's, orchards in Palisade.  Steven's orchard focuses on diversity – he has 10 varieties of peach trees!  This along with an innovative orchard design allows him to provide us with ripe peaches throughout the entire growing season.  You can bet his peaches in September will be just as juicy and delicious as those of July!

Bob strongly believes in the importance of educating the next generation about where our food comes from and helping kids get involved in growing their own food.

Jack here likes to hang around Bob's Garden and he was more than willing to show us that he was ready to work the farm!

Bob has a wide selection of fresh, local vegetables that he plans on bringing to us over the growing season.  Just to give you a taste - think about cucumbers, green beans, sweet corn, okra, beets, onions, squash, watermelon, and cantaloupe.  Hungry yet? And then there are the tomatoes . . .  we saw rows and rows of different varieties during our visit to Bob's Garden!

Joel will be sending an assortment of his unique, all natural sheep cheeses, and pasture-fed lamb meat for us to enjoy every week.  He will also offer cuts of whey-fed pork as they become available.  And don't forget to pick up one of his handmade, sheep's milk-based soaps - for the perfect gift or just to treat yourself!

During our visit to Sunny Breeze Farm, we saw the cheese-making operation from the sheep to the freezer.  Joel's family-run farm was a pleasure to tour.  Stop by and see for yourself.  In any case, be sure to visit the Sunny Breeze booth to sample the many varieties of cheese.
