Opening on July 10th 2010

At the Farmers Market (Saturday mornings 8 am until 12 noon), we envision a community event where a person can wake-up on a Saturday morning, walk downtown with a canvas bag or two, spend a short while shopping and socializing (with friends, and getting to know your farmer), visit a display showcasing activities or products of a related group (e.g. agricultural, 4H, etc.), and then head home with a morning’s bounty of fresh, local fruits, vegetables and meat.

We hope for the Market to:

Be supportive and productive for both producers and consumers;

Provide an outlet for informal/one-on-one education about food production methods, sustainability, nutrition, benefits of locally grown food, creative food preparation ideas, and more;

Foster an interest in area youth about food knowledge through youth involvement, and fun, age-appropriate garden-related educational activities or displays.
